This beautiful 3-year old female Hound mix was brought to the HSOV on July 19, 2025 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked her up on State Route 550 and brought her to the safety of our shelter. She was wearing a red collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar ... And she was not microchipped.
After preliminary photos were posted on our HSOV facebook pages, we learned that her name was Cheyanne and a possible owner was identified .. But nobody called or came looking for this sweet girl.
Cheyanne has a brown/brindle short smooth coat with white highlights on her chest, a white 'streak' on the back on her neck, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears.
This little dollbaby has a sweet, lovable personality and is a pushover for attention (and good girl treats).
Cheyanne had not yet stepped onto the shelter scales for a weigh-in when these photos were taken on July 21st and July 22nd. She likely weighs 45-50 lbs and could easily gain a few pounds to fill out her slim trim figure.
Since Cheyanne was not reclaimed, she went home with a foster mother on August 15, 2025 for a very special reason ...
Cheyanne was keeping a secret when she entered our shelter on July 19th (shhh). We noticed within a couple of weeks that she appeared to be gaining a little weight, but it wasn't all due to the gourmet meals that our kennel techs had been preparing each day. Cheyanne will be hearing the patter of tiny puppy feet in her future, so she is now in a quiet home environment with a fabulous foster mother who will pamper and shower Cheyanne with loving attention while she awaits the birth of her babies.
Update: Cheyanne is now officially an 'empty-nester' since her puppies have all found homes ... And Cheyanne will soon be ready to find a fabulous forever home of her very own. She continues to enjoy the comfort/security of her loving foster home and will be spayed before being adopted by her new family.
