Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, everyone - meet Herby! Herby - meet everyone! Even though Herby just met you, everyone, he loves you. Because Herby loves...everyone! This happy boy is super sweet and is ready to settle in with his forever family!
Herby may be the poster child for why rescues like Hero take in at-risk dogs from shelters. He was the next dog on the list at the shelter up for euthanasia due to space constraints, and would have died within 24 hours. Hero stepped in, and thank goodness they did. This boy is so full of life, fun, and love, and he ONLY needs and deserves a home and people to share life with, which he will now have.
Herby is a 15 month old wire haired terrier mix. He does really well in his crate, but of course prefers to be out near his people. He LOVES to play outside, and entertains himself in a variety of ways. He's very curious and likes to explore the yard and the woods. He is just a joy to watch as he plays around with his rubber bone or a tennis ball, tossing it, chasing it, or just lying there nibbling on it. He loves to chase balls thrown by his people, but prefers to then go hide them in a bush instead of bringing it back. He is very food motivated and a good eater, and loves his treats - especially a little bit of cheese every now and then. He is great with other dogs, and tries to engage but not in an obnoxious way that some dogs (like our personal dogs) wouldn't tolerate well. He is a good, good boy and will be a great addition to some lucky family soon.
Rescued pups often take a while to adjust to their new environments, slowly relaxing and showing who they are. This guy never bothered reading that chapter in the Foster Dog Owner's Manual, as he exudes happiness and shares his great personality right from the start. He's good on his leash and loves going for walks, and is house trained. He loves his people and only wants to be a good boy and please.
This handsome, sweet boy is about 45 pounds and has medium energy. He is the real deal and will bring a lifetime of happiness to his new family, who wants to bring the same happiness to him. Want to check him out? Apply at HeroRescue.org and you won't be sorry!
Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.
Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.
Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
