Ready to read about an AMAZING DOG?! Perfect because I am her foster mom and this is what I have to say about her, The following was updated 8/44/25

WHY is Uma still available for adoption? we have no idea. Its a mystery. This beauty has such an amazing personality, I may be biased as her foster but she has been such an easy girl to care for.

Uma is an adorable baja mutt, which means we don't know her breed. Everyone who meets her thinks she is a puppy and surprised when they realize she is full grown. Some always think she is a staffie. We say she is pit/chi mix because of her physical looks, she has a face of a pit in a very dainty small yet sturdy body. If you are not opposed to the bully breed and are interested in a small breed. then submit an application TODAY for this girl. Uma is currently staying at casa de ARWOB where she is cared by her human and several other foster dogs and cats. Uma is wonderful with humans. We don't know if she has a history of living around or with children when she was younger but since she was found in the streets of Baja she likely had several exposures to children. When on park walks she encounters children without any issue or hesitation. You can see on her videos she just runs to greets strangers at the dog park. She is VERY dog friendly, all ages, sizes, etc. Fantastic dog park dog. She is crate, house and potty trained. She is very comfortable in the crate and sleeps in it for 8-9hrs a day and a couple of short stints through the day. She is excitable when new people come into the home, the only negative would be her jumping in excitement to greet humans but that is very fixable once she has a human of her own.

Although she is fostered with cats she is monitored while around them. Sometimes she ignores them, sometimes she observes them intensely. She is not chasing or attacking. We can talk to see if your cats and Uma could be matched or not, we also recommend foster to adopt trials for anyone who has kitties at home. She is not allowed unsupervised with the cats and stays in the crate or another room.

We have not done any official training with Uma but can we say she is one intelligent little girl.
She knows what you want or don't want and does not want to be in trouble, ever. She sits and has good recall....most of the time ha

If you are looking for an agility or fetching dog this is THE one. Her tiny muscular legs allow her to jump high, although sometimes you need to lift her up on the truck. She is one of the best fetchers out there. Her foster can tell you so much more about Uma and her healthy obsession with the balls.
Not a barker and has not shown signs of separation anxiety or leash reactivity but we also make it a point to not allow her to develop them.

Interested in this loving beauty? Please submit an application online at ARWOB.org

More about this rescue

The A.R.W.O.B. group is based in San Diego, CA and operates mostly in Mexico as well as Southern California and will come to the aid of any animal in need which crosses our path. Our belief is to do what we can in order to “Make a difference in their lives.” From experience we have observed and feel the companion animals of Mexico are in the greatest need and accordingly we focus much of our efforts in Baja, Mexico. However, we certainly extend our help to our north of the border critters by accepting relinquished family pets, exiting both dogs and cats from the shelters of San Diego and of course by working in conjunction with other animal rescue groups in the community
