Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Say Hello to Lentil!
Lentil is an active 4-year-old male cat with a unique quirky nature and a heart full of love. He is looking for that purrfect human, or family, who is able to read and understand his quirks, match his energy, and share his spirit for adventure.
Energetic and active, Lentil is what we call an `overstim` cat. Unlike your average cat, he can get quite aroused by heavy petting and interaction with people. He needs a human who can read his body language and give him the space and breaks he needs when he is overstimulated.
Lentil is an outgoing and adventurous boy who loves to travel and explore new places. He enjoys his carrier and has also started leash training. Playful and active, this goofy boy loves alllll the cat toys and could bat around a wand toy all day, or entertain himself with something as simple as a cat tunnel or a box just big enough for him to fit in.
A social butterfly, Lentil loves meeting new people and being around his favorite humans, so much so, that he can have the tendency to be right at your feet. You may have to be more careful watching where you walk, but where you look you will see his curious loving eyes staring right back at you.
Lentil is such a big personality that he needs to be the only cat in his forever home, so that he is able soak up every bit of attention from his forever people. He does show potential to live with dogs, but he would prefer a dog who can co-exist rather than one that is very interested in him. Because of his sensitive nature and overstim behavior, we ask that if there are any children in Lentil`s forever home, they be 13+ and able to recognize his boundaries and give him space when he needs it.
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick with plenty of personality to be by your side both day and night, Lentil might just be your perfect match. Lentil is currently living in a foster home, so if you`re interested in setting up a meet-n-greet call us at (330) 487-0333 ext. 803!

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.
We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.
Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.
