My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Bea and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m 6 years old and weigh 27 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Green Bay, WI, from the commercial breeding facility where it was my job to make puppies. I’m glad that life is behind me. I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans, but I already have some favorite things. I love to go for leash walks and foster mom says I’m a champion walker. I also love to play in the fenced backyard here. I’m learning that I enjoy human attention and affection – scratches and petting and being held securely feel nice! Foster mom thinks that I’m going to be a cuddler. I’m curious, but also cautious. I’m a good girl in the house. I’m potty trained and not destructive. Unfamiliar noises and sudden movements spook me. There are so many new sounds and strange things and sometimes I get anxious and overwhelmed. When that happens, I pace and search. I’m not used to having such a big space to roam. Foster mom will put me in my kennel when she has to leave the house, and I’ll settle down and relax. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated. My perfect forever home would be a calm, laid-back environment with humans who like to go for walks! Little kids are probably not a good match for me. I haven’t met any children yet, but I think they’d scare me. I would enjoy having a calm resident dog to be my friend and help me continue to learn about what being a member of a family is all about. I haven’t met any cats or other small pets, but foster mom has noticed that I sometimes try to chase after critters outside, so they may not be a good match for me either. My forever family will need to guard against escapes, being careful around open doors and gates. I will try to get over baby gates or out of my kennel if not secured. If you live in the Midwest and want a sweet, shy, loving girl like me as a walking buddy, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to learn more and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SiRA learn more about you so they can tell if we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet.
