Tofu’s favorite pastime is simply being near his people. He’ll quietly follow you from room to room with his tippy tap toes, happy just to be part of whatever’s going on. When it’s time to relax, he’s a world-class snuggler and loves curling up beside you or using his doggie stairs to join you on the bed or couch.
He’s wonderfully well-mannered, fully house-trained with regular 3-4 hour daytime breaks (8 hours overnight!) and does great in his crate when you’re away. Tofu thrives on a predictable routine, mealtimes, walks, and naps all in rhythm make him happiest.
Recently fresh from a dental cleaning, Tofu’s in great shape and doesn’t act a day over 8! He’s polite with cats and enjoys the company of other chill, low-energy dogs. You’ll rarely hear him bark, he’s quiet, gentle, and content to simply be your best little shadow.

Border Tails Rescue is a licensed no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of stray dogs across the world, with a unique focus on Mexico. Border Tails Rescue has a physical shelter facility with dogs on site for viewing everyday. Border Tails Rescue primarily works with rural shelters across the country, including but not limited to TX, AR, AL, LA, KY, IN, and MI on a regular basis as well as CACC, Chicago’s open intake shelter. BTR is Woman-founded by Harleigh Garcia, who was 20 years old at the time. The organization was founded in December of 2019 and Border Tails Rescue is registered with Illinois Secretary of State as a non profit organization. Border Tails Rescue operates entirely on donations and adoption fees.
