Meet Makuna, a gentle, soulful boy who came to us after the passing of his beloved owner. Around 11 years old, he’s been rediscovering what it means to feel safe—and once he does, his loving personality truly shines.
Though a little shy at first, Makuna warms up beautifully with patience and kindness. He loves face and head scratches and will happily flop over for belly rubs once trust is built. When he’s content, he turns into a purring machine and even lets out soft little chirps when he’s excited.
Makuna is fairly calm overall, but don’t let his age fool you—he gets a daily case of the zoomies and enjoys playtime. He actively tries to engage other cats, often inviting them to chase and play, and would likely enjoy a friendly feline companion with a similar energy level. He’s especially devoted to his “primary person” and loves being nearby—following you from room to room (including bathroom supervision duties) and keeping you company as you go about your day. Makuna would do best in a quiet, loving home—adult-only or with older, respectful children—where he can settle in at his own pace and form a deep bond. Makuna is ready for his next chapter: one filled with companionship, gentle play, and the steady love he’s been missing.
Makuna is located in Long Beach, NY. He is neutered, UTD on shots, and FIV/FeLV negative.

The donation for Senior Dog over 8 years old is $325,
Dogs from 1-8 years old $425,
Dog that is Purebred Mix $550.
Dogs under a year old is $550. *

Kittens $150
Senior cats $100
Exotic breeds $150-$300
