Kanga may be a big dog, but he has an even bigger heart — once he feels safe. This sweet guy can be fearful around new people and will often bark to let you know he’s unsure. But with slow, respectful introductions, Kanga starts to show his true colors: affectionate, loyal, and irresistibly cuddly. He knows some basic commands like sit, come, down etc.

Once you’re part of his circle, Kanga becomes a total lovebug who just wants to be close, soak up attention, and share quiet moments with his trusted humans. He thrives in a calm, patient home where people understand that trust takes time — but it’s worth every second.

Kanga would do best with dog-savvy adults in a low-traffic home where he can settle in at his own pace. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you deeply once he knows you, Kanga is ready to meet you — slowly.

Additional adoption info

Adoption application required for dogs. However, because it stresses cats to be confined and transported with dogs long distances, we do not transport our cats. They are local to Texas only. Thank you.

Adoptions applications are checked by contacting references and veterinarians of those with pets to ensure our pups go to the best homes possible. We work hard to place dogs into the right families, but sometimes we realize the fit isn't quite working out for the adopter or the pet..

If an adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in TX usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal locally, and help the adopter screen applicants and facilitate finding another adoptive home for the pet in your area.

We are a TEXAS based rescue who transport regularly to this area. Our dogs are in TEXAS and will be transported to you if you adopt from us.

Our pets are posted on our website, and most live in homes with their fosters. We live with our foster dogs to get to know them in a home setting and to let them know that life can be good away from the streets.

We work to correct poor behaviors, teach manners and observe each dogs particular quirks and personalities so we can give accurate observations of the dogs you are interested in.

We know that dogs will sometimes behave differently with different people but we can give you our impressions of our pups and situations they have been in.
