Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maple is a gentle, 5-year-old, 10 lb Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix with the softest eyes and a heart ready to heal. This sweet, spayed girl was recently relinquished to a small rural shelter in Texas by her loving owner who had fallen on incredibly hard times — no home, no car, and no way to care for her. In an act of deep love, her owner chose to give Maple the chance at a better life.
Now safe and thriving in rescue, Maple is showing us just how much love she has to give. She’s calm, affectionate, and sensitive — a soulful companion who wants to be close to her people and feel secure. Maple is great with other respectful dogs and would love a home where she can truly be part of the family.
We'd like to place Maple in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.
Maple has been fully vetted and is up to date on her vaccines. We also had her spayed to ensure she won’t contribute to pet overpopulation and so he can focus on being a healthy, happy companion.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
