My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Baylor!

Hey ya'll, my name is Baylor! I'm a coonhound mix, and I was born sometime around 6/1/2019. Although I am definitely a hound dog, I may not be what you'd typically think of. I'm not as vocal, boisterous, or hard-headed as your typical coonhound, I left that trait to the rest of my family. Instead, I'm more chill, independent, and level-headed. I couldn't tell you the last time I barked, even if I spent a lot of time thinking about it. I came from a really, really big family, so I do very well with other dogs. In fact, I honestly prefer to be with another dog instead of by myself. Animals smaller than me are okay, but I really would rather not be around them. Like, at all. Dogs my size and up only please. I'm pretty indifferent to toys, I didn't have any growing up so I don't need them to keep me happy. Treats are a different story, though. I really love my daily treats that my friends give me, and a good snack is a great way to earn my friendship. Some other thing I really like are exploring and running around. We have this really cool fenced yard here at the shelter, and I LOVE going out there with a bunch of doggy friends and running around. My friends will tell you one of the few hound traits I did get is my incredible sniffer. Whenever we go outside, I spend the first bit nose to the ground and smelling everything I can smell. Speaking of my friends, although I wasn't very keen on people when I first came to the shelter, I've come around quite a bit. They tell me I'm still more independent than your average dog, I don't depend on constant attention and affection to be happy. Although I do enjoy a good belly rub or head scratch when I'm in the mood, don't get me wrong. You could sum up that my ideal home would have at least one other dog to play with, and a good family that will give me love but understand that I'm not a super in-your face kinda fella.

Baylor is fully vetted and microchipped. A fenced yard is recommended, but may not be required.
