Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Munchlax is a little sweetie who will fall asleep in your arms! He stomps around the house like he’s pretending to be Godzilla, and he must destroy the city. He has vision issues and plays with “imaginary friends”, so who knows, he could be playing *with* Godzilla!
Munchlax was mistreated in his previous home, which resulted in head trauma and permanent brain damage. This little guy is a fighter, and it’s amazing how he pulled through! He has adapted as best he can, though he will never do all of the “typical” kitten things - except warm your heart and make you love him.
He has vision issues and is functionally blind. He eats, drinks, and eliminates his waste on his own, but he doesn’t use the litter box; not because he can’t, but he probably just doesn’t comprehend it. So, pee pads are probably better for him. He is actually pretty self-sufficient and if you keep him in a small space, it will make cleaning easier!
Munchlax will find random objects to play with, and sometimes he simply shadow boxes the air. He knows how to make the best of things and have a good time! EVEN WITH AIR.
In addition to his limited vision, he has a slower reaction time to things. He seems unbothered by the resident dogs in his foster home, but if he goes to a home where there are other pets, he should be monitored around them to make sure he is safe, since he essentially wouldn’t be able to defend himself, if necessary.
Munchlax will possibly have a shortened lifespan. But we know that as long as he is here, he will be doing his best to enjoy his life. He needs people who will be kind and care for him, and love him for his specialness every day.
He is an amazing boy. Contact us today to learn more, and to meet him.
Munchlax has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. He can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
For further information or to meet Munchlax, please email adopt@austinpetsalive.org.
