My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on June 3, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Jerry, a courageous bird with a spirit that soars as high as his wings can take him. His bravery isn't just in his ability to fly high, but also in his willingness to adapt to new environments. He's a quick learner, picking up tricks and songs faster than most of his feathered friends. Jerry's lively and interactive nature makes him an excellent companion. His chirps are sure to fill your home with joy and his brave spirit will inspire you. Pigeons are beautiful, intelligent, feathery creatures who are full of personality! Due to their extremely social behavior, they thrive best when living with another bird, or a human companion they can spend lots of time with. Pigeons like Jerry need exercise and stimulation just like the rest of us, so it is important that he has a safe space to do so. Some of Jerry's favorite things are bathing, lounging in the sun and looking for seeds. Come speak to an adoption counselor to learn more about adopting Jerry today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
