Velma is looking for a very special and patient home who will accept her for who she is.
Velma came to us from a local shelter where she was extremely shut down and terrified. Animal control struggled to even catch her because of how skittish and nervous she was. Her wonderful foster has worked so hard with her to help her gain confidence and learn to be a dog. She has finally come out of her shell with her foster mom, but she is looking for a forever home that is willing to go through the same process as she readjusts to new people and surroundings.
Even as she is gaining confidence, she will always be a more nervous dog who will need a patient home. She is probably not the dog for you if you are looking for an outgoing, confident, adventure dog. She definitely might be the dog for you if you are looking for a chill, homebody, couch potato.
She is dog friendly and would do amazing with another confident dog in the home to show her the ropes. She enjoys playing and loves her toys!
She is potty trained, and does well in her kennel although it does make her nervous sometimes and she needs to be encouraged with tasty treats.
She will require a very securely fenced yard, if she gets nervous she has a tendency to try to be an escape artist.
If you think Velma could be a good fit for you, please apply!
