My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Marlena: A Brave Survivor in Search of a Loving Home
Marlena is a courageous one-year-old dog who is ready to find her forever home. Weighing in at just six pounds, this little survivor was rescued from a horrific hoarding situation. Despite her challenging start in life, Marlena is making remarkable progress and is now available for adoption through Barking Mad Animal Rescue.
Health and Wellness
Marlena's health is a top priority. She is up-to-date on all her vaccines and has been microchipped for added safety. Additionally, Marlena has been spayed and tested negative for heartworm. To ensure her continued protection, she has received the ProHeart 12 injection, providing her with a full year of protection against heartworms.
Personality and Behavior
While Marlena is a bit timid due to her past experiences, she is semi-friendly and shows a lot of promise. She is particularly good with other dogs, making her an excellent companion for a family with existing pets. Her love for treats makes her easy to train, as she is very treat-motivated.
Marlena is both crate trained and potty pad trained, which will make the transition into a new home smoother. Although she is still working on leash training, her progress has been notable, and she simply needs a patient and understanding person to help her along the way.
Ideal Home Environment
Because of her past, Marlena would thrive in a calm, child-free environment. She needs a home where her new family can offer her patience, love, and a friendly face to help her continue to build trust and confidence. Marlena's journey has been remarkable, and she has come a long way since being rescued. With the right family, she will continue to blossom into the loving companion she is meant to be.
Adoption Information
If you believe you have the right environment and love to offer Marlena, she could be the perfect addition to your family. To learn more about adopting Marlena, please reach out to Barking Mad Animal Rescue. Help us give this brave little dog the loving home she truly deserves.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
