My name is Cayenne!

This St. Bernard mix defies both odds and expectations.  To meet Cayenne you would not believe she spent the first year of her life living in a small cage filled with her own feces.  When her "owner" was charged with animal cruelty she graduated to being tied on a chain in the desert heat.  Concerned neighbors came to the rescue of her, her three siblings and two other dogs when the "owner" was arrested and sentenced to time in jail.  Unfortunately, that "freedom" meant cutting them loose to fend for themselves unwilling to be touched by people.  When we got the call we knew we had to help and after a grueling 10 days were able to safely secure them all.

Cayenne's start was full of fear but her desire to trust and be loved was intense for a dog who had clearly had a rough beginning.  Once safe, her confidence, eagerness to please, absolute desire for affection and food drive blossomed and is a joy to experience.  She LOVES to be touched.  She'll meet you with a tail wag, loves to give sweet kisses and will make you smile.  She is a gentle giant but due to her size and young age is still learning feet stay on the ground but is a dream on the leash and sits quick for treats.  She has rarely met a person she didn't love, however, is afraid of little feet so older children only please.  Due to a life fighting to survive she needs to be your one and only.
