My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pixel’s journey began on the streets of Indiana, where he was rescued by Far Fetched Dog Rescue. His foster quickly noticed something special: this bright, driven Border Collie mix had the potential for search work. In September 2024, Pixel joined Category 5 K9’s Shelter to Search program and passed all his screening tests with flying colors. But during training, we discovered he has a soft trachea, which means no high-intensity search work and only harnesses that avoid pressure on his throat. Now, at almost 3 years old and weighing 30 pounds, Pixel is channeling his smarts and enthusiasm into his new mission — finding a forever family.

Why He’s the Ultimate Loyal Companion
🐾 Confident & affectionate — always ready for love and attention
🏡 Housebroken & crate trained — knows the basics and settles in well
🧠 Smart & motivated — loves to learn and works for treats or toys
🐕 Dog-neutral — Pixel will ignore dogs in public but prefers to be a only dog
💖 The perfect size for cuddles and adventures at 30 lbs

What He’s Looking For
✔️ A family who will use a safe, no-pressure harness for his comfort
✔️ Someone who enjoys training and interactive play
✔️ A loving home where he can be the center of attention
✔️ Daily walks, adventures, and snuggles on the couch

Pixel may not be searching for missing persons anymore, but he’s searching for something far more important — his person. With his boundless affection, sharp mind, and unshakable loyalty, Pixel is ready to be your shadow, your cheerleader, and your lifelong friend. Come meet him today and see why his heart is even bigger than his smarts.

More about this rescue

Category 5 K9 works with shelters, rescues, and owners to identify dogs that have the potential to become working canines. We work with these dogs to find a job they will excel at, whether that is search and rescue, narcotics detection, or service work. Occasionally we will pull a dog that after evaluation does not appear to have what it takes either physically or environmentally for the programs we work with. These dogs are made available for adoption to pet and sport homes.
