My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Reece – a gorgeous, wrinkly, red merle beauty with a heart as big as her bulldog personality!
Reece is a 2-year-old, 60-pound AKC papered English Bulldog with a rare red merle coat that makes her truly one of a kind. Recently fully vetted, she’s now ready to find the forever home she deserves.

Unlike many bulldogs, Reece doesn’t suffer from allergies or major breathing concerns—a rare and welcome trait! She’s a solid girl with lots of lovable rolls and could benefit from regular exercise to shed a few pounds. Reece is both house and crate trained, affectionate yet playful, and has that classic bulldog mix of sass and stubbornness.

Reece was raised with toddlers and multiple dogs and has done well, but she would thrive most as an only dog or possibly with a well-matched, submissive canine companion. She plays hard and likes to be the boss, so she needs a home that understands bulldog dynamics and will continue to set loving boundaries.

She also has one special need: an inverted tail, a minor birth abnormality that requires routine cleaning to avoid skin irritation. It’s easily manageable with an inexpensive product from Amazon and a little consistency.

Reece is only being rehomed due to no fault of her own—her original family lovingly bottle-fed her as a pup, but after keeping several littermates, their young son developed severe dog allergies.

In a perfect world, Reece’s forever home would be with a homeowner who has a secure yard, bully breed experience, and the time and love to devote to helping her thrive. She’s ready to bring big laughs, big love, and big bulldog energy into her next chapter.

Is your couch (and heart) ready for Reece?

Go meet their pets

We have foster families throughout the Bay Area, spanning from Sacramento to Gilroy. All of our dogs are cared for in foster homes, as we do not yet have a physical facility—but we dream of one day saving animals without boundaries.

To ensure thoughtful and responsible adoptions, we do not host large adoption events. Instead, we prefer to showcase pets in their foster homes, where they feel most comfortable. After you apply, the foster family will reach out to discuss next steps, answer any questions, and arrange a meet-and-greet.

If your application is not chosen for a specific dog, we keep it on file for 90 days. During this time, you can email us to request your application be forwarded to other foster parents for dogs you may be interested in.

More about this rescue

Underdog Animal Rescue, our name pretty much sums us up. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit, volunteer operated nonprofit group dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned dogs from high kill and overcrowded shelters all over the state of California since 2014. We are an all-breed, size and age rescue, meaning we save many of the hardest to place, overbred such as pit bulls and chihuahuas. Our foster-based group lives and operates anywhere from Sacramento to Monterey. We literally give them another chance at life. We have saved over 3000 dogs since starting and we only plan to continue to grow.

When we rescue an animal, we place them in a foster home where they can decompress, learn to be a pet, socialized, spay/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical or behavioral conditions which would otherwise limit their chances of adoption. We then actively network our dogs to find them the perfect forever loving home. Rescue is undoubtedly hard and trying work, but it is entirely worth it to see the life of a dog saved. As a rescue, we believe it is our duty to save the dogs that really need our help; the dogs that need a little TLC, a little medical care, or just someone to believe in them again. Therefore, we save the dogs that are on their last days at the shelter or haven't even been given a chance to be adopted by the public. As much as we love those sweet puppy eyes, we think more of saving their mommy’s and daddy’s that have been shoved to the back of the shelter awaiting their fate.

Thank you for seeing what we do and loving us for it. It’s only because of our outstanding community, foster families, and volunteers that we can continue our efforts, we are 100% donation funded and every penny counts toward a dog in need. Please consider getting involved- foster, adopt, volunteer, share, donate!

As a foster based rescue, Underdog places dogs in temporary foster homes where they can decompress and get the love and affection that they need. Dogs are also vaccinated, spayed/neutered and receive any other medical treatment needed before finding their forever home.
