My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Marta was born around July 24, 2020 and weighs about 15 pounds.   Marta was surrendered to a local city pound, and when we saw that face, we knew we had to help.  Marta appears to have a lot of Pekinese in her, and Pekinese can be on the sassy side.  We were told that Marta can be aggressive when scared and in unfamiliar situations.  We have had Marta in our care for a few days, and so far she is doing wonderfully! We have not seen any aggression so far, but we are taking things slowly.  Marta rode with no issues in the car on the two-hour trip to Joyful and bonded immediately with her chauffeurs and was giving kisses and tail wags. Marta walks beautifully on a leash and has been fine with other dogs.  No kids in her next home.   We will update you when we learn more about Marta.

Foster mom update: Marta has been in our home for a few months.  Marta is NOT the vicious beast that we were told she was; however, she is a queen bee and certainly has Pekeinese sass! Marta currently lives with several other dogs of all sizes, kitties, and a parrot.  At first, Marta thought the kitties and parrot were her personal playthings, but she quickly learned that the human of the house sets the rules, not her.  Marta is very smart, and all it took was a stern voice, and she corrected herself.  Marta is highly devoted to her people and bonds quickly.  Although she loves the male human in the home, she will bark at him at night or when startled.  We are working on this with her. Martas ideal home would be one that understands sassy little dogs and loves them that much more for it!   If you have another dog in the home, it should be on the submissive side.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.

Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES

We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
