It was a cold rainy July day in Jesup, GA when we first saw Josie. She and her companion Doris were found together in the McDonald's parking lot. digging through the trash just to survive. Soaked to the bone and clearly exhausted, they were trying to find shelter and scraps in the middle of a downpour. It was clear they had been out in the elements for quite some time, but what struck us most wasn't just their condition - it was how gentle they were despite their situation. Josie is microchipped, and despite her previous owners being notified, sadly. they never reached out. Given the distance between her registered address and where she was found, we believe Josie may have been deliberately dropped off and left behind. Still she hasn't lost her spark. She is 7 years old and has been treated for fleas, ticks, hookworms and coccidia. She is up to date on her rabies shot and is heartworm negative. It is obvious that Josie has had litters of puppies previously and she has no evidence of being spayed. We are continuing to support her recovery and training while she awaits a forever home. Josie is a bundle of energy and love. She adores playtime - especially a good game of tug-a-war - and is slowly learning to walk on a leash and follow basic commands. She's making strides every day with socialization, and her sweet , eager to please personality makes her a joy to be around. Josie would thrive in a home with space to run and explore - ideally with a big yard or land. She'd do best as the only dog or with other larger dogs who can match her energy and playfulness. Josie's been through a lot, but she hasn't given up - and neither have we. Now all she needs is someone willing to give her love and stability she deserves. Could that be you?
