My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Thelma is a focused and thoughtful girl — calm, curious, and full of quiet affection. She loves taking in the world around her and feels most at ease when she’s close to her people.

Gentle and loyal, Thelma forms deep, meaningful bonds with those she trusts. Her warm, steady presence brings light to every day, and she’s ready to share that with a family of her own.

This sweet, soulful girl is looking for a home where she’ll be cherished for the loving companion she is.

If you’ve been hoping for a loyal, affectionate best friend, Thelma is ready to meet you.

Go meet their pets

We have a weekly adoption fair at Petco in Danville, Va. where we bring some of our dogs and cats. Most are fostered in members' homes. If you see a dog on our web site, please call us and we will make an appointment for you to meet. We make every effort to match the dogs with their prospective homes. Go to http://spcaofpittsco.rescuegroups.org.

More about this rescue

We are a group of dedicated volunteers formed in 2007 to increase adoptions and reduce the kill rate from our local pound. We foster, vet, transfer and love all the dogs that we rescue and make every possible effort to place them in forever loving homes. We also operate a food bank to help keep pets in their homes. We are totally dependent on volunteers and donations from animal lovers like ourselves. We are saving and placing 20-30 dogs a month who would have been euthanized. We need you-Please help us save precious lives.
