Meet Federica, or “Feddy,” a vibrant Blue and Gold Macaw with a bold voice, a goofy streak, and a surprisingly cuddly side.
At around 30 years old, Feddy spent her entire life with one loving owner before a move made it impossible for her to stay. Now in foster care, she is settling in well and continuing to show more of her social, affectionate personality each day.
Feddy enjoys human interaction and especially loves evening out of cage time, when she gets to hang out, be included, and soak up attention. She can be cautious when stepping onto or off of an arm and when perch changes are happening. Once she feels safe, she is quite affectionate and enjoys cuddling with her preferred person.
She is a talkative macaw with an expanding vocabulary. Feddy says “hello” in several variations, does a wolf whistle, and asks things like “What’s up?” and “What’s the problem?” She has been making great progress with her screaming and is increasingly choosing words like “hello” to get attention, though she is still very much a macaw and absolutely enjoys the power of her voice.
Feddy loves to dance, bob her head, enjoy showers, and spend time on top of her cage. She has an old wing injury that prevents her from flying or fully extending one wing, but it does not hold her back from exploring or staying engaged with her environment. She is still discovering which toys she likes best and continues to become more confident and outgoing in foster care.
It is important to know that Feddy is loud and will not be a good fit for apartments or homes with shared walls. She would thrive in a home with large bird experience, plenty of space, and an adopter who appreciates a macaw with a big personality, a strong voice, and a soft spot for the people she trusts.
Adoption Fee: $600
