If you're a fan of Cane Corso's and giant breeds, consider meeting Evie and adding her to your family. Evie's had a rough time lately and is looking for a great family to help her deal with the recent death of her owner. She's staying with us while we find her a new home. Evie's a very special girl and we want her to go to the best possible home after such a traumatic life event.
OTHER PETS OR KIDS? It's best that Evie be the only pet in your household. She would prefer to have all of the attention, food and toys for herself. If there are children in the house, Evie will do best in a home with teenagers who are old enough to understand her need for personal space. We don't recommend that Evie live in a home with other dogs, cats or exotics.
ABOUT HER PERSONALITY: Evie's treat/food motivated and may be interested in learning some commands. She's sweet and affectionate with people she knows. She is somewhat shy around people she is unfamiliar with. It's a learning curve for her, because she genuinely likes people and wants to be friends. If you can help Evie work through this and everything she's been through, then you are truly an angel and Evie would love to meet you! Ideally, she would need to meet several times with a potential adopter prior to going home ~~ just to make sure she is fully comfortable. She does warm up quickly during the Meet and Greets!
FUN FACTS ABOUT EVIE: Evie is physically strong, enjoys going for walks (she's great on the leash!), napping, going for rides in the car and playtimes. She'll need to have a fenced backyard to run around in and does enjoy daily exercise of some sort (going for a walk, playing with toys in the yard, etc.). Once she has had her daily exercise, Evie is ready to chill for the remainder and would make an excellent companion for watching movies or marathoning your favorite TV show. Evie is a very well behaved girl, smart and loyal to her family and protective of her pack.
MEDICAL: Evie is healthy, microchipped, current on vaccines and vet services, and has a negative heartworm and negative fecal test. Her adoption fee is $75 and includes one month of Simparica Trio to go home (for heartworms, fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites). She should remain on this medication once per month for the rest of her life to keep her healthy, happy and heartworm free!
Evie is definitely ready to get out of the cage and back into a home. If you're interested in setting up a Meet and Greet to get to know her give us a call first. You will need to schedule a date and time to meet her. Ask for Jessica, Sawyer, Abby, Kyle and Mark when you schedule a meeting to be sure they are available to introduce you and answer any questions you may have. 770.475.8272 Monday to Friday 630AM to 7PM. Saturday and Sunday 8AM to 4PM. We are closed on all major holidays. Please visit at least two hours prior to closing. Adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our goal is to find good homes for all of the sick and injured pets we have, and to adopt them out in the best health possible. Each pet is fully vetted and cared for by our amazing Veterinary Staff! Our adoption fee is $130, which includes a spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccines, and a microchip. We offer a two week trial period, during which time you may return the pet for a full refund if the placement does not work out. We will accept a pet back after two weeks, but no refund will be issued. If a pet is returned after a longer time period we may require a $130 relinquishment fee. We do not perform home visits or have any particular adoption requirements, such as fenced yard. We do, however, reserve the right to turn down potential adopters if we feel like it will not be in the best interest of the pet.

More about this rescue
Our Stray Program began in 1988, with one dog named Redman. He was rescued by a client who indicated that he had belonged to a homeless man. The man had since disappeared, and the red Chow was ill and now living on his own. We brought him to our Clinic and named him Redman. He tested heartworm positive, was treated for that condition and was also neutered. One of our Veterinarians fell in love and adopted him. Unfortunately, Redman did not live long due to heartworm disease, but enjoyed several great years with his new owner. It was because of Redman that our Stray Program for sick and injured animals came to fruition. We began a fund to support the Program and, since then, have found many sick and injured pets their forever homes! Thanks to Dr. Joe Gaston, we are able to continue our work to help sick and injured strays, and have the opportunity to give back to our pet community!
