Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Melillo!
Melillo is a 6-year-old shepherd mix with a huge heart and even bigger love to give. She’s the biggest lovebug, super sweet, gentle, and wonderfully laid back, with a silly side that shines once she feels comfortable.
This girl is a social butterfly with a wiggly butt and the cutest tippy-taps, often proudly carrying her favorite toy or stuffed animal wherever she goes. She has lived with kids before and was a true protector, thriving with children of all ages who respect her space.
Melillo does best as the only pet in a home and would love a fenced-in yard to safely explore, play, and enjoy her freedom. She isn’t a fan of crates, but she is housebroken (99% in the shelter) and adapts well in a home environment. She enjoys trips to the groomer and thrives with gentle guidance and love.
Shelter life can be stressful for Melillo, and she’s ready for a calm, loving home where she can relax, feel safe, and share her big heart. She’s loyal to the end, super sweet, and her adoption fee is sponsored, so all she needs is a family to call her own.
If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a big heart, endless affection, a love for stuffed animals, and a wiggly-butt personality, Melillo would be honored to meet you.

All adoptions begin at the shelter. Upon arrival, you will fill out an Adoption Survey for the animal you are interested in. Once the form is submitted, a shelter specialist will meet with you to review important information about the animal you are interested in, including all medical and behavioral information we have on record.
Adoption surveys are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. On very busy days, we cannot guarantee we will have staff available to facilitate a meet & greet with an animal OR process the adoption – we may ask that you return the next day we are open to the public.
Once the Adoption Counseling is complete, animals go home with their adopter the same day! Rescue Village does not hold animals prior to adoption or post-adoption.
RESCUE VILLAGE PROACTIVELY WORKS TO ELIMINATE BARRIERS TO ADOPTION
