Sunny is a striking tortoiseshell with a glossy, luxurious coat, expressive golden eyes, and a mischievous, cosmic little personality. She is a survivor, a former devoted mother, and a cat who knows exactly who she is.
Sunny spent nearly two years in a cycle of pregnancy and lactation, raising multiple litters. During that time, she experienced significant weight loss and chronic diarrhea and was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and possible early renal changes based on ultrasound findings. At the time, she was extremely thin and clearly depleted from the demands of motherhood. She was placed on a prescription hydrolyzed and renal diet while still caring for her adolescent kittens.
Fast forward to now. All of her kittens have been adopted, Sunny is no longer lactating, and her body has finally had the chance to recover. She has a gorgeous coat, excellent appetite, and most importantly has not had IBD issues in a very long time, even after transitioning off prescription food. She currently eats Purina kitten chow & Friskies pate without issue and uses the litter box perfectly. Her care is straightforward, and she is cheerful, stable, and thriving. A weight management diet would likely suit her well going forward.
She enjoys affection and will reliably come out to greet you, solicit pets, and say hello. Her fur is unbelievably soft, and she truly enjoys those moments of connection. That said, Sunny has a strict petting time limit. After about 10 seconds, she will gently take your finger in her mouth and attempt to redirect you to where she wants to be pet. If her signals are ignored, her nibbles can become a bit rougher, not out of fear or aggression, but because she genuinely believes this is normal communication. She gives clear warnings to anyone fluent in cat, and she is not mean or reactive, just very firm about consent.
Because of this, Sunny is not appropriate for children and is best suited for an experienced, cat savvy adult who respects feline boundaries and does not take things personally.
Sunny currently prefers to spend most of her time in one cozy spot in the cat room, though she has free access to the entire house. She previously spent more time in shared spaces, but now seems content holding court in her chosen area. She coexists peacefully with most cats and does not instigate conflict, but would likely be happiest as a solo cat or in a very calm household without pushy feline personalities.
Despite her quirks, Sunny is remarkably easy to care for. She eats well, uses the litter box reliably, does not pick fights, and is a kind auntie to kittens. She is bright, alert, vocal in the sweetest little peeps, and has a playful, trickster like presence that makes her a joy to know.
Sunny is not a beginner cat, and she may be a challenge to place, but for the right person, she is deeply rewarding. She offers genuine affection, enormous personality, and the privilege of sharing space with a cat who knows herself completely.
If you appreciate confident, opinionated cats with stories written into their bones, Sunny may be exactly your kind of girl.
