Looking for a forever friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin (and also maybe sit by your side, on your lap, or your laptop… any surface near you)? Look no further than Henry Huggins, a dashing adult tuxedo cat with a heart as big as his headbutts.
Henry’s name barely scratches the surface of how affectionate he is. Sure, he gives hugs — he's practically a professional — but he’s also a world-class head-butter and a devoted lap cat. A triple threat in the cuddle department! Henry doesn’t just like humans; he adores them. He'll follow you from room to room, just to make sure you're never lonely (or unaffectionated — yes, that’s a word in Henry’s world).
Henry is FeLV positive, which means he needs to be the only cat in the home or live with other FeLV+ feline friends. But don’t worry — he more than makes up for it in personality. With Henry, you’re not just adopting a cat — you’re gaining a lifelong shadow, cuddle buddy, and emotional support muffin.
If you're ready for a love like no other, come meet Henry Huggins. He’s waiting (probably on someone’s lap) to be your best friend for life.

1) The first step to meet the cats at Animal House is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
4) When your adoption is finalized, the adoption paperwork is completed and a $130 adoption fee for adult cats and $150 for kittens is collected.
We are located at:
2151 59th Street
St. Louis, Missouri 63110

More about this shelter
Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.
Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 100-250 cats and kittens at any given time.
The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
