My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kenya, the sweetest, most lovable little lady around! This gentle 3-year-old kitty is a total cuddlebug who absolutely adores butt scritches. She's been in her foster home for over a year now, and she’s ready to find her forever family to shower with love! Kenya is the queen of cozy time. As soon as you sit or lie down, she’ll trot right over to claim her spot next to you. She’ll reward your attention with the most delightful purrs and the most endearing meows. And if she feels like you're slacking on the snuggles? She’ll politely remind you with another sweet little 'mew.' This quirky girl would thrive either as a solo cat soaking up all the love or with a kitty buddy to share her chill vibes. She’s super easygoing with other fosters in her current home and has never been a troublemaker. Kenya is shy at first, but once she warms up, she’ll melt your heart. She’s happiest when you’re seated or lying down so she can curl up for snuggles, but she’s also independent enough to enjoy her own little adventures. Her favorite activities include relaxing in the catio, lounging like royalty in her cat tree, and, of course, soaking up butt scritches. Kenya would do best in a calm, quiet home (no small children, please) where she can fully relax and be her sweet, quirky self. Are you ready to give this darling girl the forever home she deserves? All of our foster kitties are raised in foster homes, are up to date on vaccines for their size, spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested and microchipped. Interested in adopting? Additional adoption info

As a rescue, Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue volunteers get to know the cats they care for and can share their knowledge to help you find your perfect forever fur baby.

Please keep in mind that cats are sociable creatures, and sometimes two are better than one. Playmates tend to lower the amount of trouble a single fur baby might get into when they are bored due to busy schedules or long work hours.

We will choose the best applicant for each kitty and reach out to that applicant.

More about this rescue

Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Jacksonville, Florida. We are a small volunteer-run non-profit that had humble beginnings in 2019.

Our rescue's mission is on taming feral and sick kitties too old to go to ACPS or the Humane Society.

This is no small undertaking! The need is great, and we help as many cats and kittens as we can. Sometimes this means rescuing a sick kitty, trapping feral cats and kittens, and other times it’s giving a pregnant mom a safe place to have her kittens.

Before starting the rescue, we were involved in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) activities, fostering, and volunteering at local shelters in Jacksonville, FL.

During the summer of 2018, we focused on fostering semi-feral kittens ( the sick and the hissy) through local shelters and then on our own. Due to our success of re-homing so many cats and kittens, we decided to make it official in December 2018.
