My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Bonded Pair* DOB: 04/25/2024

Ruby and Reese - bonded sisters who love to play chase and cuddle with each other, their humans, and other friendly kitties. There is no such thing as too many pets with these girls, they loooove all the attention they can get! Reese is super shy at first but then turns into the bravest explorer wanting to check out all the best play spots! Ruby is a little flirt and makes sure to show off her pretty little self so you can tell her how cute she is : ) Reesie-Piecie-Poo is a chitterbug out the window and loves to birdwatch for hours. Ruby plays Peek-a-Roo around corners, chair legs, and even other kitties so she can get the best pounces when you toss her toys! Both girls love the tallest spots in the room to get the best view.

*Ruby has a skin allergy to clay litter so needs to have corn, paper, pine, or combo litter only. Reese needs to start in her own "room"(with Ruby) to feel safe for a few weeks before she starts exploring or will do nothing but hide.

All of our foster kitties are raised in foster homes, are up to date on vaccines for their size, spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested and microchipped.

Additional adoption info

As a rescue, Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue volunteers get to know the cats they care for and can share their knowledge to help you find your perfect forever fur baby.

Please keep in mind that cats are sociable creatures, and sometimes two are better than one. Playmates tend to lower the amount of trouble a single fur baby might get into when they are bored due to busy schedules or long work hours.

We will choose the best applicant for each kitty and reach out to that applicant.

More about this rescue

Springfield Kitty Cat Shack Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Jacksonville, Florida. We are a small volunteer-run non-profit that had humble beginnings in 2019.

Our rescue's mission is on taming feral and sick kitties too old to go to ACPS or the Humane Society.

This is no small undertaking! The need is great, and we help as many cats and kittens as we can. Sometimes this means rescuing a sick kitty, trapping feral cats and kittens, and other times it’s giving a pregnant mom a safe place to have her kittens.

Before starting the rescue, we were involved in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) activities, fostering, and volunteering at local shelters in Jacksonville, FL.

During the summer of 2018, we focused on fostering semi-feral kittens ( the sick and the hissy) through local shelters and then on our own. Due to our success of re-homing so many cats and kittens, we decided to make it official in December 2018.
