Doohickey is a Karakachan mix, which is an incredible and ancient breed that many people have never heard of, including us when he first arrived. Karakachans are known for their intelligence, independence, and loyal nature, and Doohickey shows all of these qualities in the most charming ways. He would be best suited to go home with someone who is familiar with livestock guardian breeds as he possesses a lot of these qualities. He originally came to us from one of our clinics on the Navajo Nation along with the rest of his litter. From the beginning, he stood out as the thoughtful and observant one, always watching the world with calm curiosity. Doohickey is a total sweetheart who simply needs a moment to get comfortable with new people. Once he gets to know you he reveals more of his playful side, complete with his signature sweet smile and a gentle desire to stay close to the people he cares about.
Doohickey has also shown wonderful manners with other dogs. He appears to be very dog friendly and consistently shows respect and patience when meeting new canine friends. He approaches slowly, reads the room well, and adjusts his energy to match the other dog. Once he feels confident, he becomes playful and happy to spend time with them. Doohickey would do best in a patient and loving home where he can continue gaining confidence learning about the world, and growing into the incredible companion he is meant to be. With kindness and consistency, he will be a loyal friend who brings a warm and steady presence into your life.
