My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A SWEET LITTLE GUY:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.

Hi, I’m Stanley! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control heartworm positive and pretty sick at the time — no worries though as the wonderful folks here made sure I got the good care I needed and I’m feeling good again.  I’ve received my heartworm treatment and completed my rest period, so I’m back to my regular play and exercise routine.  I’m dreaming about the day I can head home with my very own family, could it be you?

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and didn’t play or show any aggression with them.  I met 2 dogs when I had a spend the night with a volunteer and I coexisted nicely as well as played with them, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / I met 2 dog-friendly kitties in the home I visited, and I wanted to play with them. / When I spent the night with a nice volunteer, I did well with the teenagers in the home.  So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a very sweet, friendly little guy who loves to spread joy wherever I go!  Playtime is one of my favorite times, and I can’t help but show off my signature happy dance when I’m excited — it’s sure to make you smile.  I was a total charmer during my photo session, happily posing and showing off my fun-loving personality.  I enjoy snoozing behind the front desk in my signature position - on my back with my paws up in the air – which the volunteers say is absolutely adorable!  I’m also a bit of an escape artist — if a door is open even for a second, I may try to dash out — so my forever family will need to keep me safe with secure doors, a collar, and close supervision.  With my affectionate nature and playful spirit, I’m ready to bring a whole lot of love and laughter into my forever home. / Energy level: 4-6, sometimes a little higher, and I should stay on the calmer side until I’ve finished my heart worm treatment recovery period.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’ and ‘place’ commands as well as how to utilize proper door etiquette and proper leash walking.  I also ride well in the car so you can take me places. / I slept in my crate in my foster home, I hop right in when my foster points and says “get in your crate” (sometimes even without a treat, though a snack helps if I’m feeling stubborn), I sleep there at night, and while I might bark a little at first, I settle down quickly.  / I’m still working on my potty training and will need some guidance, but I keep my crate clean and have a predictable schedule, so once you learn my routine, it’s easy to know when to take me out.  I pottied outside in the home I visited, though I did try to mark a few times.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love spending time with people, playing with toys, and treats!  I love to bask in the sun and go for walks.  I’m sure we’ll discover even more fun things to enjoy together! / I can’t think of any dislikes, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  As stated above, I came in heartworm positive.  I have completed my heartworm treatment and rest period, and I am ready to get back into a regular exercise routine.  Local adoption would still be best for my heartworm re-check in March 2026.  I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.

I’m looking for a great family to love and be loved by. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.

Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
