Meet Piston — The Easy-Peasy Love Machine!
If you’re looking for a dog who checks every single box, Piston is your guy. At 2-3 years old and 45 lbs, he’s the perfect “just right” size — big enough for adventures, small enough for couch snuggles.
Piston LOVES people of all ages and gets along beautifully with other dogs. He’s even been polite with cats! Outside, he shines as a running buddy or park explorer, so an active adult or a yard to zoom in would make him one happy pup. Inside? He’s pure chill — relaxed, respectful, and happy to nap while you go about your day.
This clever boy is:
✨ Housetrained
✨ Crate-trained
✨ Obedience-trained (sit, lay, and paw — nailed it!)
✨ Neutered, vaccinated, & heartworm negative
✨ A full-night sleeper and potty-signal pro
Piston’s previous owner became ill and could no longer care for him, so he’s looking for a new family to love with that big, loyal heart of his. He’s easy, he’s sweet, he’s ready — all he needs is someone to give him his forever home.

To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.

We are 100% volunteer/foster based, so we do ask that you complete an adoption application in order for us to schedule a phone interview.

After reviewing your application, we'll contact you to determine if dog is a good fit for your lifestyle and home.
Approve Application
We check vet and personal references to ensure previous dogs were well cared for, so please be thorough in providing this info.
Home Check
This enables the dog to get to know you and your home and for us to suggest anything they may need to be successful in your home.
Sign Adoption Contract
You would also pay the fee at this time, however, we offer a 2 week trial period before cashing your check. We will always take dogs back.
