Dumont is a beautiful marble rye tabby who appeared at a managed colony in Brooklyn on a bitterly cold winter day. He is likely a former indoor cat who was abandoned outside, unequipped to find proper food or shelter. The colony’s caretaker luckily was able to bring him inside to safety and much-needed medical care.
After all he has experienced lately, Dumont is an understandably cautious gentleman with simple pleasures: all he asks is for a catnip ball, tasty snacks, and a cozy place to curl up (ideally somewhere elevated and soft, such as the foot of your bed?). He sticks to his routine: he plays, he eats, he naps, and once a day, he sings a short ballad for all to hear. He uses his litter box and politely waits his turn for meals. He adores head and chin scratches and will make a wonderful cat for someone looking for a lowkey cat. We expect him to become even more affectionate as he gets more comfortable with your environment and routine.
He would be perfectly content being the sole focus of your attention and love, but would be okay with a playful, non-threatening cat, as he can be unsure of what to do with other cats.
Dumont was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. We would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation (between $250 and $400 total) and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.
This cat can be adopted as a single cat or with a calm companion.
