My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BLUEBERRY!

This sweet girl has been bounced around enough - she's ready to lay down roots in her dream retirement home! Blueberry was originally adopted from a shelter in 2013 and lived in a home for several years where she was loved and well cared for. When that family ran into hard times they rehomed her with someone they thought would take good care of her, but unfortunately Blueberry found herself tied up and abandoned, then taken in by someone who was letting her live outside in their yard. She was ultimately surrendered to animal control and is now safe with City of Elderly Love. Somehow Blueberry has gone through so many changes and remained the sweetest and most gentle girl!

Blueberry is now around 12 years old and is an all around sweetheart and incredibly easy to handle! She is beyond content sleeping next to you while you work or watch TV during the day. She is really low maintenance, taking pets whenever she can get them but never demanding them. When you do stop petting her she will usually look back at you to check in on why the fun stopped, then go right back to sleep! Our favorite is when she gets in silly moods where she does play bows and has little spurts of zoomies but those don’t usually last more than a minute or two. Blueberry occasionally loves a squeaky toy and will gently chew her toy while taking pets. She’s a dainty player and doesn’t require very durable toys. Blueberry has been housebroken since day 1 and seems to be content going outside every 4-5 hours. She spends much of the work day alone and doesn’t make a peep! Blueberry loves to approach people and gives gentle tail wags when she gets to take pets and snuggle right up to you! She has attended events and is a peach when meeting her people. She's happy with a 15-20 minute walk a day and is great on leash, responsive to leash guidance, and barely pulls.

Blueberry has interacted with various dogs since entering the shelter (including play groups) and the rescue. She can be a little forward in her greetings with other dogs but is otherwise friendly and appropriate! She loves to go on daily walks with her canine foster sister and is happy to just chill with other dogs ar our events. Looking for a sweet, spry senior who could do well in just about any home? Blueberry's your girl!

Blueberry has the expected lumps and bumps for a 12 year old dog which were found to be benign lipomas (fatty deposits). She was previously spayed and is now up to date on all vaccinations! Blueberry is an absolute angel at the vet and distracts all the vet techs when they see her come in! She stands patiently for her vet exams and happily takes treats and pets when offered.

Blueberry is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting her? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire!
