My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Augustine was transferred from a city shelter for being a finger-biter. At first we thought he was just a through-the cage biter but he has also had other infractions and also bit the vet. Bonding attempts have not gone very well but Auggie was the only one who got injured during that attempt so he might be okay with a different rat, but would advise caution trying. He really enjoys to walk onto our gloved hands and be held. His biting is kind of mysterious as he is a friendly guy, he just chooses violence sometimes.https://www.lostwoodsas.com/adoption-application

Go meet their pets

We are currently open by appointment only to see all the pets, but we frequently appear at farmer's markets and other local events with adoptable animals.

More about this shelter

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
