Meet Caesar! He;s a polydactyl, so he;s got an extra thumb toe on his front feet.
I had been feeding him outside of my work since 2020. On Christmas Eve 2024, he showed up with a rectal prolapse. I took him to my vet and they did surgery to fix the prolapse, I had him neutered and bloodwork done. He is Feline Leukemia FeLV negative, but did test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency virus/FIV.
FIV typically causes a weakening of the cat;s immune system. FIV positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration, they just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues.
I have had him fully vaccinated and he;s been on monthly Revolution Plus flea medicine since December.
It is recommended that FIV cats be an inside only cat, or in a home with other other FIV cats.
I have other cats in my home, so I cannot take him in. He;s been in my garage since January. Looking for a home or rescue that will take him with his FIV diagnosis.
