My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2023

Hobie is a male cockatiel approximately two years old.

Hobie is a very shy cockatiel. He is not hand tame but also not aggressive. He does not seem to be interested in other birds, as he was left alone for long periods of time in his cage.

He is not a strong flyer, and his wings have been slightly clipped to prevent injury. Hobie will need someone with plenty of time and patience. He would do well in a quiet environment with a person who can dedicate regular, hands-on time to work with him.

Hobie is not yet a great eater of healthy foods, as he was only introduced to seed from a young age. In his foster home, he is being offered a variety of pellet mixtures as well as fresh fruits and vegetables to help improve his diet.

He is a talented whistler and enjoys a bit of friendly competition. Hobie will allow you to come right up to his cage and whistle back and forth with him, although he is not a big fan of hands at this time.

Hobie is currently being fostered in a home in Leonardo, New Jersey.
He will only require one in-person visit before adoption.
We do not ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
As our adoptable birds are living in private homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
If interested in adopting Hobie, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org
Please review our adoption policies and fees, and then complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
