Nova

Nova is a Female Labrador Retriever
DOB: June of 2020
Adoption fee: $200

I am a lovely Yellow Lab. Up until now, my life was being a mommy to multiple litters of puppies. Thanks to the good people at the Humane Society and all of their supporters I get a second chance at a life that is all about Nova. I have settled in at the shelter and I am enjoying the routine, regular attention and walks with the wonderful volunteers.
Did anyone say “ball”!!! I love to play fetch. I need some basic obedience training along with leash control. I am super food motivated!! I need to be taught to be a little more gentle about taking treats, but I respond well to light corrections. I would do my best with older children, visiting grandkids would be fine.
I have been around other dogs and could possibly share my home with another pending a meet and greet. Unsure about cats at this time. I would do best with a physically fenced in yard. I may require it pending your previous experience, location and other plans for containment.

Approve Application

Processing takes 3-5 business days. We are currently not scheduling any visits without an approved application.

3.
Meet the Pet

After approval, we will schedule you/your household to visit + meet the pet of interest.

4.
Take the Pet Home

At the end of your visit, we would be able to complete adoption papers + you will take your new companion home!

Additional adoption info

All adoptions begin with an application on our main website, HSSCM.ORG.
Once your application is competed and submitted, processing generally takes 3 business days- pending our schedule and the number of applications ahead of yours. Once processed we will contact you and, if approved, will set up an appointment for an adoption counsel. If you are looking to adopt a dog and have a current dog in the home, we will require a match-up before finalizing any adoption.

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!
