Their adoption process

As part of the application process, you agree to provide veterinary treatment for the duration of the cat’s life. You also agree to return the cat to us in the event that the
placement doesn’t work out, or if a situation arises making it impossible for you to continue caring for the cat.
No cat adopted from Salem’s Community Cats is to be declawed.
If you are a renter, we will need permission from your landlord before placing a cat in your home to live. We also perform reference checks.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. View our website for adoption policies https://www.salemscats.com/adoptions.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. We will set up an appointment for you to meet the cat your are interested in adopting.
  3. Pay Fee
    1. We accept checks made payable to Salem's Community Cats, cash, or debit or credit card through our Paypal Donate link.

More about this rescue

Salem's Community Cats is committed to improving the lives of feral, stray and owned cats, stopping the growth of the feral population through TNR, and finding every adoptable cat a loving, permanent home.

SCC was started as a Trap-Neuter-Return group to help control the feral cat population in and around the village of Salem, NY. Since being formed in the fall of 2019, we have expanded our services to include fostering and re-homing stray cats and kittens, helping provide spay and neuter services for financially strapped cat owners, and fostering mother cats with their kittens and placing the kittens into suitable homes.

Since our formation in 2019, we have helped over 1,000 cats!

We are 100% volunteer staffed and funded entirely by donations. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, recognized by New York State as a public charity.
