My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Betty was brought in by a community member on May 24, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Betty! This beautiful girl was fearful when she first came into care, but with a gentle and patient approach she has blossomed into an enthusiastic and sweet pup. She loves her walks and fetch sessions, and enjoys receiving lots of affection and treats. Betty is not all that interested in making canine friends, so she's looking for a home where she can be the only dog and soak up all your attention. If you're ready to offer Betty the loving home she deserves, she'll be your loyal companion! Come speak to an adoption counselor to learn more about her today.

At SDHS:
Betty has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed, and is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
