My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chowder - The Sweetest Little Tortie With a Shy Side

Chowder is a beautiful 7-month-old tortoiseshell girl with a marbled coat, bright curious eyes and a tender heart. She’s still figuring out this big new world and can be quite shy, especially in a new home. Chowder likes to take things slowly - think of her as the friend who prefers a quiet coffee shop over a crowded party.

This gentle girl thrives in peaceful environments where she can observe first and join in when she’s ready. A cozy hideaway, a soft voice and a patient hand are exactly her style. Once she feels safe, Chowder begins to unfold like a little flower, showing a warm, affectionate personality and enjoying calm, gentle playtime.

Chowder is seeking a home that understands her thoughtful pace - a place without children, since fast movements and sudden noise are not her love language. She’ll do best with someone who truly appreciates shy cats and takes joy in the slow, beautiful process of earning their trust.

If you have a quiet home and a kind heart, Chowder will reward you with tender moments, soft purrs and the incredibly sweet experience of watching a shy girl blossom just for you.

Come meet Chowder and discover how magical patience can be.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
