Marcus is a stunningly handsome, 3 year old neutered tabico male. We wish he could tell us his story, but we’ve done our best to guess at it based on what his behaviors have told us. Marcus showed up at an established colony and was trapped for TNR. Upon interacting with him, volunteers suspected that he was not actually a feral cat, but definitely a very frightened boy. Marcus appeared to have been indoors at some point, but started out very flinchy whenever hands approached him. No one claimed him when a found report was filed, and our best guess is that this sweet, beautiful boy was abused, and abandoned.
Despite his obvious fear, there was clearly something in Marcus that wanted to connect, and volunteers worked hard to win his trust. Marcus loves Churu treats, and would allow pets while eating the Churu. Eventually he relaxed more and more around people as he realized that he is finally safe, and that no one is going to hurt him again.
Marcus interacts well with other cats, but would also be fine as an only kitty. We don’t know whether he’s been around dogs. Because Marcus is anxious, he will need a very calm and quiet home, without children.
Marcus may never be a lap cat, but he does enjoy pets, and he will give you slow blinks to let you know he loves you. It’s important for potential adopters to understand that Marcus will need a great deal of time to settle in to a new environment and begin to connect to his new family. Everyone who knows him will tell you, he is so worth the investment!
Marcus hasn’t yet decided whether he’s a fan of playing, but he loves cat trees with cozy hiding spots, as well as cozy beds for napping in. He eats both wet and dry food and he has a great appetite! And of course, he would like a family with a lifetime supply of Churu, as they are the key to his beautiful heart.

📋 Adoption Application & Contract
To ensure the best match for both you and our cats, we require:
Adoption Application – Helps us understand your home, motivation for adoption, and expectations as a pet owner.
Adoption Contract – Includes an indoor-only and no declawing clause, as well as a Vet Promissory Note to ensure continued veterinary care and spay/neuter follow-through (if applicable).
🌍 Adoption Area
We do not adopt out of state, except on a case-by-case basis near the North Carolina border.
💸 Adoption Donations
Your donation helps us continue rescuing and caring for cats in need:
Unaltered kittens – a minimum donation of $120.
(Includes vaccine series, deworming, and medical care. Adopter is responsible for spay/neuter and rabies vaccine once age-appropriate. We can recommend low-cost vet services.)
Spayed/Neutered cats – a minimum donation of $140
Bonded pairs – a minimum donation of $200
Career/Barn cats – a minimum donation of $25

Meet & Greet is required to ensure a good match—please bring the whole family!
In some cases, we may require a home inspection or rental verification.
