My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.

---

- LOVES to be a lap dog and will crawl into our laps for pets and attention; when he's out playing in our dog park and sees one of our team members sit down, he stops what he's doing and heads right over to snuggle

- Will love a home where he can join in on being a couch potato, and we think he'll probably be an excellent nap buddy

- Enjoys hanging out with his people and loves meeting people on walks; will greet everyone with lots of wiggly tail wags

- Also enjoys exercise and may be a fun hiking or adventuring kind of dude; loves to go on long "sniffy walks" and enjoys exploring and trying out all the equipment in our on-campus agility park

- Loves playing with water and enjoys the mist from the hose

- Likes treats and takes them gently

- Was quite shy when he arrived, but has been gradually gaining confidence and making friends while in our care; may need some extra patience and time to settle into a new home, but once he's comfortable he is happiest wherever his people are

- Some kids may be too much for him, and we think he may benefit from a mature home where all family members can help him continue his confidence-building

- Can be socially awkward with other dogs, but may enjoy a like-minded dog in his new home (dog intro required)

- We don't know his history with cats

- May have allergies (more info at ARL)

- Has struggled with medical handling, and we highly recommend adopters work with a Fear Free-certified veterinarian for his vet visits

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
