My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Colonel Sanders! Social, snuggly, and sassy, this darling is nothing short of fabulous!

COLONEL SANDER'S STORY:
Sanders was found in a chicken coop. They went to check on their chicks and heard a commotion; there was Sanders, absolutely terrified, emaciated, and all alone. They managed to catch him and brought him to the Humane Society of Oldham County. This stinky, hissy boy was out of his mind scared, and when his fosters saw him they immediately fell in love. They took him, bathed him (2x for good measure), and got him all the good meds to make sure he was healthy. Ironically, his foster was wearing a "KFC" shirt that day in the clinic, and they felt between the chicken coop and the shirt, "Colonel Sanders" was meant to be!

COLONEL SANDER'S PERSONALITY:
Colonel Sanders may have started off hissy and shy but that did not last long!  After a short week of TLC, Sanders decided to drop the "tough guy" act and fully embrace his sauntering, social, floppy self. He's got the sassiest little meow and loves to tell you all about his day as he rubs against your legs, making biscuits by your toes and relentlessly giving affection. One of Sanders’ favorite pastimes is batting around his beloved spring toy (the pink one is his favorite), carrying it around with pride after he "catches" it.  He's a little bumbling, endearingly klutzy and akin to an octopus on roller skates! When it’s time to relax, he becomes the perfect cuddle bug, happily curling up with you on a cozy blanket.

Sanders adores feline friends and must have a Forever Family with a kitty companion to call his buddy. He is especially fond of male orange kitties and has a strong preference for boy cats.

Colonel Sanders is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV (yay!). Submit your application today!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Oldham County is the areas first no kill animal rescue. We run a top notch spay\neuter clinic, rescue and find loving homes for homeless or abused animals in our area, monitor and care for feral cat colonies including TNR. We also help the community through our many programs including Kentucky State Reformatory(KSR) Camp K9 where dogs are housed with professionally trained, monitored, nonviolent inmates to socialize and train our adoptable dogs to be highly adoptable and have good basic skills. A wonderful program for the inmates and our dogs.
