My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tulip is a sweet, smart girl who has mastered the art of both snuggles and adventure. A true playgroup rockstar, she loves romping with other rough-and-rowdy dogs who can match her energetic playstyle. Tulip is always up for a swim in the pool or a competitive game of tug-of-war, and she greets every person she meets with an enthusiastic hug and a slobbery kiss. Her intelligence truly shines—she’s quick to pick up new tricks and routines, ready to impress you daily. Because of her playful style, Tulip would do best in a home without furry felines. She’s the perfect pup for a lively family that can match her big energy and equally big love for couch cuddles.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
