My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mina is 13 lbs of pure zest for life — especially the parts that involve humans and other dogs. She loves meeting new friends (two- or four-legged), sitting politely for treats, chasing squirrels, and trotting proudly with a toy — or occasionally your shoe — in her mouth.

Mina is fully potty trained and when you leave, she’ll quietly settle in her crate (if a little begrudgingly).

Her dream home would be one where someone is home most of the day — a retiree, stay at home parent, or remote worker would be perfect. She’ll nap peacefully by your side while you work at your computer and follow you around the house as you putter.

Mina knows how to “sit,” and her recall command, “Mina Mina Ballerina,” always brings her running. She’s an expert snuggler who sleeps through the night and greets every morning with a burst of love and kisses for the humans. She adores playing with her foster dog brother (even though he’s five times her size), and she's got plenty of playful confidence — whether that’s proudly going on walks, greeting everyone on a restaurant patio, or leaping over her crate in a single bound!

Mina is affectionate, smart, and full of personality — a little dog with a huge heart.

Mina is a female Chihuahua/Terrier mix with an estimated date of birth of 2/15/25. As of 9/29, she weighs 13 lbs.

More about this rescue

K-9 Angels Rescue is an all-volunteer, all-breed canine rescue organization established in February 2012.

We are a rescue group for shelter dogs who run out of time. In other words, we are not a shelter, have no permanent facilities, and are not equipped to take in dogs from the public. We select dogs from the greater Houston "kill" animal control facilities who would not have made it out alive. (Don't worry! If you need help rehoming a dog, there are other non-profit groups who can assist you.)

No one involved in K-9 Angels receives ANY compensation. Our volunteers are compassionate animal welfare advocates who contribute their time, skills, and finances to shelter homeless dogs in Houston. To save the lives of the abandoned, abused, and stray dogs who end up in Houston's animal control facilities, K-9 Angels relies completely on adoption fees, donations, and our amazing volunteers.

K-9 Angels covers ALL costs for dogs currently in the program. During intake, every dog gets a microchip and is spayed or neutered (if old enough for the procedure). If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. We fund all medical care necessary, even if we have to raise extra Helping Paw funds for special cases! From the time they enter the program to the time they graduate, K-9 Angels dogs are kept up-to-date on all vaccines (DHPP, bordetella, rabies) as well as heartworm and flea prevention.

We commit to K-9 Angels dogs until they are adopted.
Our volunteer foster homes patiently provide safety, love, and integration into a household environment - a key to successful adoptions. The biographies, pictures, and even videos from foster homes are important "pup-licilty" for our dogs! We are always in need of additional foster homes.

Our goal is a "fur-ever" home! We take every precaution not to contribute to the dog overpopulation problem here in Houston. Applications are processed according to our adoption policies to insure the best situation for our dogs and the families who adopt them.
