My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sabrina came to us when she was a kitten at 5 months old. She was very shy and semi-feral - petting her was almost impossible. One day we noticed a kitty in the café was having some bowel problems and leaving trails of diarrhea all over the rooms. After a while of eliminating the potential cats, we discovered it was Sabrina. Catching her was very difficult, but we managed to do it, and we immediately fecal parasite tested her to see what was going on. Her test came back positive with Tritrichomonas and giardia. The giardia is treatable, so we were able to get rid of it. However, Tritrichomonas is a slightly uncommon fecal parasite, where the one medication that gets rid of it the most effectively is not FDA approved in the US. There is one medication, though, that does sometimes treat it called metronidazole. Sabrina has been getting treated with metronidazole for two months, but unfortunately, she still has the parasite. Her symptoms are clear, but she will most likely be a carrier of the parasite for the rest of her life. Though, while being treated and interacted with for those two months, she has become a lot friendlier. She LOVES churus, and will eat them out of your hand if you let her. She needs a home that can accommodate to her medical situation, which could mean nothing more than monitoring her stools and treating them with probiotics if necessary. Stress and changes in environment could potentially flare up symptoms, but she could also go the rest of her life symptom-free. She is very affectionate with the people she knows, and would be great pet for a quiet and stress-free household.

More about this shelter

PALNV started in California in 1993 to help abandoned, abused and neglected pets. They moved to Las Vegas, NV, after the recession. It took a couple of years to decide what was needed most in our new community and the decision was made to help community cats find their forever homes.

We opened Rescued Treasures Cat Café in August of 2019 and adopted 40 cats. We were shut down for three months in 2020 due to the Pandemic but still managed to take in 335 cats and kittens and find homes for 299. The first quarter of 2021 we took in 146 cats and adopted 84.

Our cats are from the streets. They have been abandoned and even though they are living on the streets they are very sweet loving cats. We also take out medical cats and kittens from our local shelter.

We are always looking for volunteers, donors and fosters to help save more lives. Our passion is being a part of the solution to saving our community cats!
