Hi! My name is Edie, and here’s a little more about me:
My Journey I came to Feral Cat Coalition in March 2025 after suffering severe facial injuries. To help me heal and live comfortably, my right eye had to be removed. With excellent veterinary care and lots of love, I recovered beautifully.
My Social Life Other cats: I would love a calm, friendly pet companion and enjoy sharing my space with another respectful animal. Dogs: I don’t mind dogs! I can be curious and a little hesitant around larger pups at first, but once I warm up, I’m known for friendly sniffs and sweet nose boops. Kids: I’ve never met young children and would do best in a home without them, as I have specific petting boundaries and enjoy a quieter environment.
My Personality Gentle, affectionate, and deeply loving. I’m a certified cuddle bug and proud bed hog—my favorite place is the head of the bed, curled up on my very own pillow. I’m curious and enjoy exploring, but loud noises can startle me, so I appreciate having a safe retreat (like under the bed) when I need quiet time. I love my humans dearly but also value my independence and enjoy having cozy spots where I can rest on my own terms.
I Enjoy… Head and neck pets (those are the best!) Tiny stuffed toys and string toys Cuddling, especially at bedtime (sometimes right on your face!) Lounging on the bed—especially my pillow Having a soft, safe place to retreat when things feel overwhelming
I’m Not a Fan Of… Being picked up Loud or chaotic environments Aggressive or fast petting Being touched too much on my back or tail (please be gentle!)
What Makes Me Special I chirp instead of meowing, purr loudly when I’m happy, and have a unique way of showing love—often by snuggling very close. My combination of expressive communication, strong boundaries, and deep affection makes me a truly special companion for someone who understands cats.
My Perfect Home I’d thrive in a calm, not-too-loud home with patient, cat-savvy humans who respect my boundaries and read my cues. A friendly animal companion would be a bonus, and a quiet environment with cozy hiding spots is a must. I’m happiest where love is gentle, routines are predictable, and naps are plentiful.
My Special Needs I have Feline Hyperesthesia, which means I have heightened sensitivity—especially along my back and tail. This can cause brief skin rippling or overstimulation if touche

More about this rescue
Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
