My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Youre not going to find a nicer guy than me. Im Sunny, and I am truly one of the sweetest and most handsome boys you will ever meet. Just take a moment for a closer look into my eyes and admire my beautiful brindle coat. I was very shy and unsure when I first came to Great Plains. My original owner absolutely adored me, but he passed away suddenly, and I lost the only home Id ever known. I did lead a rather sheltered life, so coming here with all the excitement and so many dogs and smells, well, it has been overwhelming for me. Im not sure Ill ever get used to the hubbub.

There is an innocence to me that is very endearing. My personality radiates warmth and happiness. I can be calm and loving, but also playful and full of fun. I like to cuddle, but I like to be active, too. I have plenty of affection to share, and Im ready to bring a little sunshine into your world. I love it if you throw a lot of toys because I enjoy gathering them all up in one spot, and then Ill lie down and play with each and every one of them. My friends think thats pretty adorable. I know sit and down, and I love to take walks, and Im quite good on leash. I am fascinated by squirrels, so keep that in mind when we walk the neighborhood.

I went into a foster home for a short while, and they simply raved about me. I had to come back because a child in the home suffered allergies around me. I was described as a fabulous dog, calm and well behaved. Im always ready to be by your side, whether were exploring the great outdoors, sitting in the sun soaking up the warmth, or snuggling up on the couch together watching Netflix.

I am working hard on lowering my excitement level when I become overstimulated by different smells and sounds. Staff and volunteers work with me to help me understand how to react and learn how to calm myself. I know I will improve - it just takes a lot of practice to learn the best way to behave. I can work through anything in life with you by my side.

Its important for me to meet everyone in your household before we make it official. I want to make sure we all get along and feel comfortable together, so a little meet-and-greet will help us all get to know each other better. Once Im settled in, youll see just how sweet and loving I can be!

I will be a most loyal and devoted companion to you. I have a long and wonderful life ahead of me. I just need for a wonderful someone like you to give me a second chance at a new life.

Love from Sunny
