My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Onya, a sweet and gentle boy who will steal your heart. Onya came to us as a big surprise—we thought he was a nursing mother, but he wasn't offended one bit when we discovered he was a male! This easygoing nature is just one of his many charming qualities.

Onya's calm and gentle demeanor makes him an ideal companion for other animals, whether they are playful kittens or serene adults. He's an adaptable and friendly boy who gets along with everyone he meets. With his kind heart and laid-back personality, Onya is ready to be a loving addition to your family.

We estimate his birthday to be May 5, 2025. Apollo and his family were rescued in the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworm. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination.

An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. You can download it from HERE OR directly ONLINE If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program visit us on FaceBook.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and care for stray and homeless animals while providing humane education to the community.
We work with members of the community to help cats in need. We conduct trap/neuter/return and place projects and train home and business owners on how to properly care for free roaming cats on their property and in their neighborhoods.
We focus in southern Dutchess County, but help people throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties by connecting them with local rescues that can work with them, loaning equipment, coordinating spay/neuter clinics and offering guidance.
