Here's what the humans have to say about me:
JJ and Lucien are a quirky duo and looking for a patient, understanding family to give them all the love and attention they desire!
JJ is 3 years old and ended up being paired with 10-month-old Lucien, since he needed a feline friend. These guys have become buddies and enjoy cuddling or grooming one another. They also can be quite active and chatty! JJ's got the grumpy old man meow and glare down pat, but while playing they can both test out their pretend growls and hissing.
As the older guy, JJ prefers to take the lead in human interaction and doesn't really care to be held or picked up. He will signal when he's had enough vocally and physically, then will escalate if his cues are not acknowledged–so it's very important he ends up in a home that can understand his cues, respect his desires, and remain patient with him. He can reward you with head butting, requesting pets, freshly made biscuits, and cuddles!
Lucien is a speedy little guy who likes to be around your feet, keeping you on your toes. He enjoys a good nap, but as the kitten of the pair, he especially loves running around, climbing on and under things, and playing with toys. He's more flexible in being held and petting, but can sometimes be triggered to play and will try to use your limbs as a toy, which requires redirection. Lucien is more cuddly and while receiving pets, his purrs grow progressively stronger in response.
Both boys enjoy ball track toys, catnip kickers, balls, springs, tunnels, and wand toys. Please note that wand toys must only be used under supervision, as Lucien has chewed through the string of one and can go wild playing with them, resulting in the chasers wrapping around him. Once they’re done playing, all wand toys need to go back into a safe spot in a closet or cat-proof box.
These handsome guys currently live with another foster cat, Take Off, and 2 resident cats in a multi-level townhouse. There is one human in the house and they don't shy away from visitors. The foster works from home and they spend most of the day nearby, keeping an eye on things.
While Lucien has never met a dog, JJ is dog reactive, so they need a dog-free home; however, slow intros to gentle, chill cats are okay. Due to the behavioral components requiring a good understanding of cat cues and how JJ’s signals can escalate, these two also would do best in an adults-only home. This pair will thrive with patient individuals who can respect their needs and not push them when they are overwhelmed. They dislike being separated from people, though they still need the decompression time. In return for honoring their boundaries, these sweet fellows have lots of love to give, and are so excited to be your expert supervisors of all activities.
Ready for the twice the good vibes this fall? JJ and Lucien are ready to make your acquaintance!

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners

Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
