Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cami came to us as a literal miracle—confiscated due to severe neglect and just days away from wasting away. A dog who should be 40–45 pounds showed up at barely 19–20 pounds, covered in fly bites and wounds. She had every reason to trust absolutely no one… and instead? She climbed straight into our arms like, “Okay, I’m home now.”
Cami is resilience with a pretty face and a soft heart. She is sweet beyond measure and would happily spend her days glued to you on the couch while you rub her head and tell her she’s perfect (she is). She’s beauty, she’s grace—but she’s also learning what it feels like to be a puppy who actually feels GOOD. And sometimes that means when she wants to play, she gets a little mouthy. She redirects well and is totally trainable, but because she’s still figuring things out, we think kids 10+ are the move.
She’s dog-friendly and brings the energy, so she’d love a dog who can meet her enthusiasm and play style. That said, she does have an off switch and can hang in homes with different energy levels—she’s versatile like that. However, the first 15 minutes is a lot of excitement and so we have continued to work on staying neutral and meeting dogs with a little less enthusiasm.
Cami is crate trained, crushing potty training at about 80–85% (considering she likely lived outside, that’s huge), and making massive progress every day. She loves zooming around the backyard, walks great on a harness, and if you bring treats? She will absolutely do whatever you ask. No shame.
Anyone would be lucky to have Cami in their life. The joy she brings is contagious, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with her. She deserves a home that keeps proving people aren’t all bad, one that’s patient, loving, and ready to help her keep building confidence, routine, and the soft, spoiled life she has absolutely earned.
If you are interested in being considered a forever home for Cami, apply directly. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Her adoption fee includes her spay, up to date vaccines and preventatives, heartworm negative and microchip. Cami is currently being fostered in Chicago and does have an open adoption radius for the right fit. Adopter must be willing to meet and finalize in Chicago.

A matching call is required to learn and share more information to ensure that we are setting up both dog and adopter up success if matched.

Additional adoption info
Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a forever-home match. We are careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet’s permanent home. These steps ensure that we have all the information needed to make the best placement for you or your family.

More about this rescue
At Chicago Rescue Authority, our mission is to create a compassionate world where every animal is treated with love, respect, and dignity. We are dedicated to educating the public about the adverse realities of the mass-production industry for puppies, raising awareness about responsible pet adoption and ownership, and actively working towards reducing the overpopulation of dogs in shelters.
Our promise to Chicago is to build our rescue on the tenets of teamwork, education and compassion. We will listen to the concerns and ideas of those around us and be ready to grow alongside this rescue and this mission.
Volunteers, fosters, donors and adopters will be the backbone of this organization, just like every other animal welfare non-profit. We will be hosting a variety of fundraisers and mixers throughout the year aimed at building our support network. We can’t wait to meet all the animals whose lives we are going to change!
